Student Travel Grants

Attending meetings and conferences is an important part of career development. The OSAF is pleased to offer the following programs to help students with travel costs.

Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Student Travel Grants

Provides travel support for students researching optical engineering, lens design and/or illumination design. Three grants of $1,100 USD each are available annually. In 2012 grants will be awarded for the Imaging and Applied Optics: OSA Optics and Photonics Congress (two grants) and Frontiers in Optics (one grant).

Newport Travel Grants

Recognizes the research excellence of students presenting their work at the CLEO:2012. Five grants of $1,000 USD are awarded. 

Jean Bennett Memorial Student Travel Grant

Recognizes the research excellence of a student presenting their work at the Frontiers in Optics (FiO) conference. A travel grant of $1,000 USD is awarded. 

Student Travel Grants

We provide travel support to students working or studying in developing nations so that they may attend OSA-managed technical meetings and conferences. Learn more about this program!
