About the Galileoscope...
The Galileoscope™ was developed by a team of leading astronomers, optical engineers, and science educators including OSA members Stephen M. Pompea and Richard N. Pfisterer. The telescope kit has a 50-mm (2-inch) diameter and 25- to 50-power achromatic refractor. The Galileoscope allows users to see the celestial wonders that Galileo Galilei first glimpsed 400 years ago, including lunar craters and mountains, four moons circling Jupiter, the phases of Venus and Saturn's rings.

Constructing and using a Galileoscope is a terrific learning experience for students of all ages, and the Galileoscope Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for our community to encourage the next generation of innovators!

Nearly 5,000 scopes have been distributed so far, but we have an ever growing list of requests from teachers and youth-educators who would like to use these scopes in their classrooms, camps and after-school programs.

Please help us fulfill these requests by joining the Challenge today!

*Note – Shipping costs have been included in the price of the Galileoscopes
